Around 20,000 owners of motorhomes are meeting this week in Georgia. Despite volatile prices at the pump, the industry has scored five straight years of record sales as baby boomers become empty nesters and want to get out of the house. Choices range from small diesel-powered models that can get up to 20 mpg to million-dollar buses that get less than 10 mpg. A few owners say they're traveling less and staying longer at their destinations. If you have enough money, however, you can get a Travel Supreme (shown) that holds a Mercedes Smart in a rear compartment. I guess if you get only six or seven miles to the gallon traveling across a state but jump to 40 mpg cruising around your campground, it helps average out your carbon footprint. Cool idea, though.
